1. Our Name
Our group is called the Citizen Infra Builders Club (CIBC).
In this document, we call it the Group.
2. Our Purpose
We exist to support the builders of citizen infrastructure — open-source tools that strengthen democratic participation, collective intelligence, citizen empowerment, and community self-governance.
In particular, to:
- Build and maintain open-source tools for democratic governance, structured deliberation, and community coordination
- Provide mutual support, shared learning, and peer exchange among civic technology builders
- Advance research on portable governance, collective intelligence, and participatory design
- Connect builders with communities to ensure tools are co-designed, locally relevant, and genuinely empowering
3. What We Do
To work towards our purpose, we can:
- Raise funds and receive grants and donations
- Commission research, development, and design work
- Organise workshops, meetups, and online events
- Collaborate with other groups, organisations, and research institutions
- Publish articles, papers, and other materials
- Do anything legal that supports our purpose
4. Membership
Anyone who supports our purpose can join by participating in our community spaces (currently the CIBC Telegram group).
